Xiaomi Mi A1 is a Mid-Range smartphone with pure Android. it is also the first smartphone of the Chinese manufacturer, which comes with the pure Android operating system in the market. The Xiaomi Mi A1 is similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. It is belonging to the Android One family that distinguishes the Xiaomi Mi A1 from the Mi 5X model. I have on the review was Xiaomi Mi A1 Gold color. It is a very pleasant device that pleases the eye. Thin, metallic, with a slightly rounded edge of the smartphone, is nice to hold.
On the front, the 5.5-inch display is framed by fairly wide display edges which protected with Gorilla Glass cover. On the upper bezel, there is a loudspeaker for calls, Camera, and light sensor. On the lower bezel, there are three haptic buttons instead of on-screen buttons.
On the back, Xiaomi places a dual camera on the upper left corner together with dual-tone LEDs. Fingerprint sensor placed in the middle of the upper half.
On the right, it houses power and volume rockers, whereas the left side, it features hybrid SIM tray.
At the bottom, it houses 3.5mm audio jack to the right with the main microphone, a Type C USB port in the center with single-grille speakers on the extreme right.
Microphone and the infrared sensor are present at the top, adding useful universal remote control functions to the device. With it, you will able to use your cell phone to control your TV, home theater, air conditioning and whatever else your imagination allows.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 is not a small terminal but it is thin. Its body of 155.4 millimeters exceeds, if we compare it with other 5.5 Inches smartphones like an Honor 6x, Meizu Mx6, and OnePlus 3 but with its 7.3 millimeters thick it does become one of the finest. A body of 165 grams but still seems to be lighter and has good grip.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 features a 5.5-inch FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) LCD, giving a pixel density of 403 pixels per inch. The Screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Individual pixels cannot be seen with the naked eye. Overall, the display of the smartphone in the test looks bright and intense colors, without the colors are too bright. In our display tests, the screen of the smartphone achieves good values. In addition, the model’s brightness sensor is very accurate in adjusting the brightness of the screen according to the environment.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 powered by Eight Core Snapdragon 625 processor it can run at the rate of 2.2GHz. The processor supported with 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage which can be extendable via MicroSD and Adreno 506 GPU. During my test, the mobile does not show delays while open applications or to switch between them when I use multitasking, and that responds when I demand it.
The Mi A1 got 62402 points on AnTuTu benchmark app. it secured 856 points of Single-Core and 4087 points of Multi-core on GeekBench V 4.0 test. The smartphone score 13638 points on 3D-Mark Icestorm Unlimited and 4702 points on PCMark (Work 2.0). It does not heat up at all!
Another aspect that I usually emphasize is Fingerprint sensor of the devices. It has a Fast and accurate fingerprint sensor.
GPS, I was impressed with the speed of the device in obtaining my location and also with its accuracy during navigation. NFC not added and it is a big mistake by the Xiaomi.
The Mi A1 comes with pure android nougat. It is a Xiaomi first smartphone with Android One. I only found non-google applications on my Mi A1 are Mi Camera app, Mi Store, Mi Remote (uses IR Blaster to control connected devices) and feedback app. It will get Android Oreo updates in this year, as per the official news.
The Mi A1 equipped with a standard 3080mAH battery. Nowadays smartphone is vital to our social and business life. We never want that the smartphone is turned off in situations where we can’t get it on. So Users want a smartphone with a big battery capacity. I observed that the battery is more enough to last a full day under mixed usage. When I connected 4G for 5 hours, playing online games, used the camera with flashlight, social networks, and enjoyed the music through a wired headphone. The result has given 5 Hours. Next day I performed the same task via WiFi connection. The result has given 7 Hours. Normal usage, it will be enough to be able to spend the day away from a charger. Unfortunately, Xiaomi does not add a fast charger, so you will wait 2 hours to get the mobile 100% charge.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 has the best Camera setup. it comes with a 12+12MP Dual rear camera. Two cameras with identical resolution but with two different focal lengths, one aimed at achieving a “normal” lens and another focused on magnification, a telephoto lens. 26 and 50 millimeters with apertures f / 2.2 and f / 2.6, with focus on phase detection and with Dual LED flash. The result, Portrait mode, Stereo, two optical zooms, and full HD video recording. For a selfie, it has a decent 5MP camera and the lens is wide enough to capture a big group of people for wefies.
The photos with good light are able to be achieved almost always up to our expectations and even the HDR works well, even if it works only manually. In low light, the results are decidedly less interesting but are still largely within acceptable.
Overall Photography with the Mi A1 is fun and efficient, with quality photographs in much of the scenarios. Xiaomi did a great job by putting such quality equipment at such a low price.
The sound is one of the vital aspects of a smartphone. For music or watch video without headphones, we need to have good sound quality. For the tests, we have submitted it to all kinds of tests, from streaming audio to YouTube videos, downloaded videos to audio in stereo and I have the result here. what a sound!
And this super-positive assessment is not only because of the high volume or the generous bass that it put in my ears, because of the clarity and depth of the sounds.
- Cameras Performance
- Pure Android and Android Oreo updates directly from Google
- The fingerprint reader performs at a high level
- Low Price in term of equipment
- Big Upper and Lower bezel
- The front should be 8MP
- It does not have NFC.
- Automatic brightness is somewhat capricious
